Spring Eclipses 2024: Preparing For Rebirth

Updated: Mar 24, 2024

Greetings beautiful souls. I thought I would put the astrological forecast of the eclipses into a blog post because I feel there are times when certain information should be accessed by free will, as opposed to broadcasting this information openly. In this post, I will touch on the next moon transits which will be the lunar and solar eclipses, and my interpretation of how it may affect the collective.

Why Is the Moon Important?

I've talked about this before but I want to remind everyone why I like posting about Moon transits. There are many reasons but to keep it short, the Moon represents our thoughts and feelings and therefore our actions. It’s not necessarily the logical mind (this is more influenced by Mercury - which is also connected to the Moon), but our spiritual and emotional mind. And remember, the mind is not only the brain and conscious thought but also the heart and the subconscious. This is why even in a complex and multifaceted system such as Vedic astrology, the moon is considered the most important because the Moon truly makes us who we are. Also, just as the Sun connects us to our masculine energy channel, the Moon connects us with our feminine channel, and working with it brings much-needed spiritual balance. I also like to highlight the Moon because if you follow the Hindu calendar closely, you will see that major holidays and celebrations are aligned with the moon cycle which again stresses the importance of the moon’s energetic cycle and how it affects us on all levels.

March 25th Full Moon - Penumbral Lunar Eclipse

Eclipses are powerful energies which should be treaded carefully as energetically speaking, the darkness has a moment to encapsulate the light. This full moon lunar eclipse will peak on March 25th at 3:01 AM EST but the Purnima (full moon) period itself will begin March 24th at 12:26 AM.

Although it will be a penumbral eclipse, this eclipse is still significant in that it will be heralding Spring Equinox and Holi. Both represent the start of rebirth, therefore it is time to let go of what does not serve you - any past karma, pain, and heavy energies - to start anew. This can be seen during the time of Holi, when a fire ritual is performed which signifies burning away past karma to reach a state of purification, creating space for rebirth.

This eclipse will be happening in the sign of Virgo. Virgo is a sensitive earth sign that deals with our health, daily work/routines, and enemies, among other things. Therefore, you may experience changes in these areas, or depending on which house Virgo is placed in your Vedic chart, you may see changes there. With regards to the stars, it will start in Virgo-ruled stars Uttara Phalguni which gives the power of union and prosperity, and will peak in Hasta which places the gains you were seeking into your hands. However, to understand this energy in more simple terms we can look at the energy of Virgo as a whole which represents hard work, skill, practicality, resourcefulness, maturity, helpfulness, creativity, self-improvement, and of course health and healing - especially physical healing through means of medicine, yoga, reiki etc.

Regarding the physical placement, the Moon will be sitting closely with Ketu and directly opposed by the Sun, Rahu, and Mercury. I see and feel because of this energy, this transit can end up being very transformative for some people. The energy of the eclipse is one thing, but the direct influence of Rahu and Ketu (north and south nodes of the moon, respectively) intensifies the energy greatly. For those who are unfamiliar, Rahu and Ketu are not planets but shadowy aspects of the Moon and are linked to past lives, earthly karma, radical change, transformation, and spiritual ascension. At this moment, not only are Rahu and Ketu causing the eclipse (according to Vedic legends), but they are also close to it proximity-wise as well, which comes together again more intensely in two weeks for the solar eclipse.

Also, with debilitated mercury in Pisces sitting in the mix (again, remember I said Mercury also had a connection to the Moon?), this again puts a lot of stress on the mind, especially concerning communication. So with all of this, I would say… please be careful during this time. Stay grounded, stay balanced, and think before you act and speak. Full moons usually have great potential for growth, expansion and manifestation, but be sure that energy is well-thought-out and fueled by pure thoughts and intentions. Also, if significant events occur during this time which are out of your control, understand the universe is working with you, not against you.

April 8th New Moon - Total Solar Eclipse

The energy of the lunar eclipse will then be carried onto the new moon solar eclipse which will occur April 8th in the sign of Pisces. The Amavasya (new moon period) will begin April 7th at 5:52 PM ET and will peak April 8th at 2:21 PM ET. This new moon eclipse will be heralding Chaitra Navratri which will be a necessary moment of purification and grounding given the energy of these eclipses.

In this instance, the Moon and Sun will be directly conjunct Rahu (big deal!), with Venus sitting close by and opposed by Ketu. Mercury will then be in retrograde sitting with Pisces-ruler Jupiter, and Mars and Saturn will be in closer conjunction. With all this energy influencing a total solar eclipse, the energy will be much more transformative.

The preparation of starting anew and rebirth will take full flight at the moment of the eclipse because as I said previously, eclipses can bring karmic transformation. Similarly, new moons represent new beginnings and in this case, starting fresh from the karma that was energetically being burned in the last eclipse. To top it off, all of this will happen in Pisces in the nakshatra Revati which is the last nakshatra of the cycle. This leads me to believe there will be cycles that come to a close for some - cycles that likely triggered a lot of spiritual growth. When cycles are ready to come to a close, things tend to resurface that need to be healed which can also be brought on by Mercury being in retrograde. With this influence, we can expect significant events to be triggered or certain energies or emotions to surface, which may feel intense or put us out of balance.

In terms of the worldly aspect, there may also be a radical change in government. Apart from the transformative aspect of the eclipse itself, Saturn represents government and Mars represents action and aggression - both sitting in Aquarius - the sign of worldliness and revolution.

Apart from these aspects, the energy of the Moon will be in a very spiritual place being in the sign of Pisces in the star Revati. Pisces represents spirituality, mysticism, the unknown, higher consciousness, surrender, and liberation. Revati reflects many of these qualities which will be important to channel during that time, however, Revati also emphasizes the role of mothering energy. When we talk about "birth" or "re-birth" we cannot forget the importance of the mother... well it is Revati who gives us the energy of that nourishing mother... the mother who nurtures us in her womb and prepares us for the journey of a prosperous new beginning... which I feel ties in so beautifully with the energy of these eclipses.

This idea of the mother also coincides beautifully with the fact that Chaitra Navratri will begin after the new moon which is the channelling of the divine feminine or the "cosmic mother" for 9 nights. This will start with the Moon being in Aries which, if you follow the nakshatras in order, represents healing (Ashwini), putting the past to rest and the rebirthing process (Bharani), and the fiery spark of a new cycle (Krittika) - all of which the divine mother herself will be helping us to do while hopefully leading us to a fruitful new beginning.

With that... I will close here. Remember to tread carefully during these times, watch what you say, what you do, and who you surround yourself with. Allow the energy to flow, and to help balance your energy, ground yourself with meditation, yoga, salt baths, nature walks etc. For those of you who are sensitive to your spirit guides, let them guide you during this time, but most importantly, continue to embody your higher self by having purity, honesty, and humility of the heart, mind, and spirit.

Many Blessings,

Vashti
