Connect With Your Astrological Spirit Animals

Hi beautiful souls! I'd like to share a cool technique for connecting with your spirit animals using astrology. Spirit animals can be the animal spirits that guide you on your path, the type of animal you need to surround yourself with (pets), or the animals that you (or your lineage) embody/connect with on an energetic level.

For this, you need to look into your vedic astrology placements (you can use any online tool but I suggest the app Cosmic Insights). The most important placement is the moon nakshatra, then I would suggest looking at the lagna nakshatra (also known as the rising or ascendant), and the lagna lord (lord of the first house). For example, if you are a Scorpio rising you will look at what nakshatra mars is sitting in since mars rules Scorpio in vedic astrology. You can also look at your sun nakshatra, atma-karaka nakshatra (soul planet - planet of the highest degree in your chart), or any planets conjunct moon, conjunct lord of the first house (rising), or any planets sitting in the first house.

Below I have listed each nakshatra and the animals associated with it. Each nakshatra has a corresponding animal (first animal listed) and some nakshatras also have animals associated based on the energy of that nakshatra. For example, the animal for Ashlesha is technically the cat but its symbol and nature is that of a serpent. I'm sure I missed a few animal associations, but if you are interested you can read up on your nakshatras and perhaps pick up on some animals that are not listed. For example, all of these nakshatras are associated with one or more Hindu deities and most Hindu deities tend to have a mount that is a specific animal. In this case, you might find that you connect with that animal more.

Nakshatras and Their Corresponding Animals

Some of you may be confused by these animals but understand that these animals are meant to be viewed in an energetic way. If you research this concept, you will see that these animals are connected to the concept of "yoni." Most people understand yoni as the female reproductive organs (which it is) and use it to describe one's sexual nature (which you can), but on a much deeper level, yoni refers to the creation, evolution, and ultimate nature of a person. When you look into the animal with that perspective - less about the physical animal itself and more into the nature of the animal - you come to understand how it connects with you spiritually.

Furthermore, it is important to note there are many animals one can connect with, and this technique only mentions a few, so of course, there will be animals that you connect with that are not listed here. Also important to mention you may not connect with your nakshatra animals and that is completely okay. At first, I didn't feel connected to mine, but as time went on and I grew into my authentic self, I started understanding and connecting more. Lastly, spirit animals always change based on the stage of life that you are in, so embrace whatever animal energy is surrounding you in the present moment as following your animal intuition is far superior to astrology.
